If you want pampering...
At the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, pampering is the order of the day.  The property's world-famous spa, Agave, has a whopping 20 treatment rooms in which you can receive anything from a "moisture surge massage" to accupuncture.  There are also 27 holes of golf, eight dining options and sparkling pools and whirlpools to enjoy.  But while you're getting a facial or indulging in a nap in a Westin signature Heavenly Bed®, your pooch can snuggle up in his very own Heavenly Dog Bed® or dine on cuisine from the hotel's pet room service menu.

"This place will even allow you to leave your [crated] pet unattended in the room while you are out enjoying the pool or any of the other nice onsite activities," Tempelman says.

If your pooch wants to go in for a grooming or shop around town, the hotel's concierge will be happy to make all the arrangements.  You can also pick up a map that specifies the area's pet-friendly locations.

"It's just one more way we can provide our guests with the most comfortable and enjoyable resort experience possible," says Stephanie Dowling, Westin Kierland Resort and Spa's spokeswoman.  "Because many of our guests consider their pets to be family, it only make ssense to spoil these furry companions with the same attentive service and personal attention that we provide their owners.  

Last on our list, but certainly far from least—It's where John and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned.  It's where Vivien Leigh said her vows.  For decades, San Ysidro Ranch, a Rosweood Resort, has pampered its sophisticated guests—and, in many cases, their four-legged children.  The property's Privileged Pet Program offers dogs the ranch's signature bedding, Bow Wow Beanies™ chew toys and even in-room spa treatments to improve their circulation and aches and pains.

"At San Ysdiro Ranch, a Rosewood Resort, we welcome dogs with open paws," says Tamara Fangman, the ranch's director of sales and marketing.

In between spa treatments and delectable meals taken at the renowned Stonehouse Restaurant, you and your dog can explore the prperty's 17 miles of hiking trails or take a short drive to the beach.  Golfers can also play a round on one of the ranch's three partnering golf courses, located a short drive from the property. So fabulous are these courses, Fairways and Greens magazine recently named San Ysidro Ranch "one of the best retreats anywhere."
